Inner Child Healing
“The child you once were is still a part of you, waiting to be seen, heard, and loved.”
You may recognise moments when your feelings seem much bigger than the situation in front of you. Perhaps you find yourself seeking approval, struggling to say no, or hiding parts of yourself to feel accepted.
Inner child work offers a way to explore these experiences with curiosity and kindness. Together, we look at what you feel, what you need, and how you would like to respond in your life today.

What is inner child work?
“Inner child” is a way of describing feelings, needs, and experiences associated with your younger self. These might include playfulness and creativity, as well as vulnerability, fear, or a longing for care.
Some ways of responding that helped you earlier in life may now feel restrictive. Inner child work invites you to explore whether this feels relevant to your experience and to practise different ways of caring for yourself.
You do not need clear childhood memories or a particular story about your past to begin.
When you might find this approach helpful
You may be interested in exploring:
- Self-doubt, a harsh inner critic, or a strong need for approval.
- Difficulty expressing your needs or setting boundaries.
- Recurring patterns in relationships.
- Feeling that you perform a role rather than show how you really feel.
- Feelings of sadness, loneliness, or disconnection that you want to understand.
- A wish to reconnect with playfulness, creativity, or interests you have put aside.
These experiences can have many influences. We will explore what they mean for you without assuming that they all come from childhood.

How I work with you
I offer a warm, compassionate space to explore your experience at a pace we agree together.
We begin with what is happening in your life now. Where it feels relevant, we may consider how earlier relationships or experiences connect with the patterns you notice today.
Alongside conversation, I may offer creative and reflective exercises, such as drawing, writing, guided imagery, or gently noticing physical sensations. I will explain an exercise before we begin and discuss whether you would like to try it.
You can keep your eyes open, adapt an activity, pause, or decline. You do not need to revisit distressing events in detail or produce a particular emotional response.
What we may work towards
We will agree goals that matter to you. These might include:
- Recognising familiar emotional responses.
- Responding to self-criticism with greater kindness.
- Identifying and expressing your needs.
- Practising boundaries and asking for support.
- Making more deliberate choices in relationships.
- Creating space for enjoyment and self-expression.
We will review what feels useful and how it connects with your everyday life. Everyone’s experience is different, and particular outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Your first session
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and consider whether this approach is suitable for you.
We will discuss what brings you here, what you hope will change, relevant background, and the support you already have. There is no expectation to tell your whole life story.
If it feels appropriate and you would like to, we may try a brief exercise—for example, drawing how you imagine your younger self and adding words that come to mind. You decide what the drawing means and what you wish to share.
We will leave time to reflect, settle, and agree next steps.
Your choice and pace
You do not have to forgive anyone, recover forgotten memories, or feel a certain way for your experience to matter.
Drawings and imagery are used for reflection and expression. They are not treated as proof of past events.
If your needs would be better met by another practitioner or specialist service, I will discuss this with you.

Healing your inner child is an act of profound self-love, a sacred reclaiming of the part of you that deserves kindness, care, and belonging.
